Burmese Rocks My World

I've only had it twice, but it was love at first bite. Burmese, which is a combination of Thai and Indian flavors, is just plain tasty.


As I said I was craving, yearning, dreaming of the fermented tea leaf salad. After scouring the menu, I realized the Burmese House had no salad. But have no fear, the Aussie saved the meal. He asked if they could make it, and they actually said yes! Woot, woot.

Here's the beauty that is the fermented tea leaf salad (super crunchy!)


I went with the sour veggie curry, which I had never had (nor heard of), but it was lackluster. Perhaps I should have requested hot instead of medium.


The Aussie had the pumpkin curry, and probably should have requested
wuss-spice ;) He was almost in tears. Poor guy. The meals were served with coconut rice (I need, NEED, NEEEEEED to recreate coconut rice with brown rice and my mean-little-rice-cooker). We debated whether the coconut rice had bits of coconut in it or onion. I said coconut (of course) and the Aussie swears it was onion, his arch-nemesis.

The highlight of the meal was definitely the roti. This was much different than roti from an Indian place. It was thicker and chewier. The Aussie would like to add "almost crepe-like." He had crepes for the first time this past weekend (obsessed much . . . hehe).


All in all it was another great meal. Speaking of which, stay turned for a fabulous recipe for salsa so good an onion-hater will love it ;)


Also, I'd love to hear whether you thought it was onion or coconut in the rice :)

She's Baaaaaaaaaack

Hello, hello Blogger world :)

My blogging may have stopped, but my reading of blogs most certainly did not (okay . . . it may have been limited to when I had access to the internet). Over the past few months much has happened--a trip across the country, an extended stay in Pahrump (I bet you had to look up where it is . . . in case you're too lazy--Nevada), a move to Australia with the heaviest bags imaginable, a month-stay at the In-law resort in lovely Sedgwick, and FINALLY a move Melbourne.

Definitely stocked! I'm settling into Melbourne nicely, but trying desperately to get a job! All the traveling may seem extravagant for an unemployed new graduate, but a road trip was needed to get my car and other important stuff from the East Coast to my parents in Nevada, and it gave the Aussie a chance to see a bit of the States before we relocated to Australia. Needless to say, the upcoming trips for us will be the camping variety ;) Real world has definitely arrived.

I missed snapping pictures of creations and adventures, so I'm going to try this whole blogging daily (semi-daily) thing again :) So stay turned for fun from down under!

Miss Me?

After 25 hours (roughly) I am finally sitting back in my room in Annapolis. I have a heap of mail to go through and a to-do list beating down my door, but I wanted to say hello to you first :)

Sorry for the lack of posting abroad, but the internet situation wasn't ideal and I was a busy bee. This was my 3rd time in Melbourne, and this time I definitely fell in love with the city. It's very artsy.





I also fell in love with the Aussie's parents property. They did an amazing job making it look spectacular for the wedding.





The weather was terrible for a few weekends before the wedding and the weekend after, but by a blessing we had lovely weather for the wedding day! I can't wait to share all the wedding fun with you.
