What I've been up to

Aside from waddling around, I've been getting up to a random assortment of activities -

Baking (for the MIL's bday) . . .

Enjoy the weather . . .

Rocking out at bodypump . . .

And of course, spending lot of time at work. Today is day 1 of week 32 and I was hit with the tired bug. I hope it was just a one off, but time shall tell. I did manage to (finally) try prenatal yoga, and I realised how absolutely un-flexible I have become. It was completely self-induced because I stopped stretching. Shame on me! I'm hoping to find a bit of flexibility in the next two months.

In other news, I've adopted a new approach to dinner - half the plate is full of steamed veggies. I have been tracking fruits and veggies for a bit, and I wasn't completely satisfied with how many I was eating. This is an easy boast. Tonight I did a combo of broccoli, peas, corn, and string beans. Hello, nutrients! It also makes thinking about dinner a bit easier. Win, win.

Off to catch some zzzs,

People are strange

Oscar, my beloved juicer, made an excellent breakfast juice today by chomping up the usual juice suspects (with the Aussie's help, of course).

This:

 became that:

I love all the colours, and yes ice makes everything better. This made two 16 ounce juices.

For lunch I decided to venture out for a veggie burger. It turned out to be an interesting walk. First thing I saw was the mailman (mailperson?) delivering mail on a bicycle! I'd never seen that before, and definitely thought it was an awesome way to do it. In true stalker fashion, I whipped out my camera to snap a photo.

Um, you may be wondering where the bike is (heck or even where the mailman is). You need to look very closely and you'll see his little bag sticking out as he turned the corner. Those guys are fast, and, sadly, I am not (note to self - take paparazzi off potential career options).

But, my walk got even more interesting when I saw a guy riding his bike in the middle of the rode wearing these (not a mailman):

I kid you not. And I definitely wouldn't recommend it, because it's incredibly reckless (I think he must may have been drunk at 1pm on a Wednesday).

I finally made it to the burger place - Urban Burger.

I have been here once with the Aussie, and decided to be unoriginal and get the exact same thing - vegan burger & snack sized chips with honey mustard for dippage.

The burger is made from lentils and darn tasty.

After the feast, I decided to peruse Aunt Maggies, a local health-food store.

I like to imagine that it's like Wholefoods, but it's not (not even close). I was delighted though when I saw they started carrying my favourite local sparkling water from Hepburn Springs.

The Workout

Today I did 5 ks of walking and bodypump.

Off to veg,

Monday's delayed post (aka Zesty Mexican Salad)

After a small battle to get back into the blog after I forgot my password (thanks Google for finally believing I was the rightful owner!), I can now post about my nutritious and spicy dinner.

I wanted dinner to highlight lots of veggies (perhaps to counter last week's love affair with scones), so I knew a salad was in order. However, salads can be boring and I was in the mood for exciting.

Mexican flavours are obviously the best, so I went with a Mexican themed salad.

I started out with a layer of spinach.

Then a layer of black and kidney beans.

Followed by tomato.

A mound of corn (I used corn on the cob off the cob - beats frozen every.single.time)

 A glob of salsa.

And finally a heap of guacamole.

After you take the final picture then you mix it altogether until it looks terrible and tastes delicious. What it lacks in originality it more than makes up for in flavour.

The Workout

I thought it might motivate me more to have a little section on each post about my workout. Monday's workout was a 3k walk and bodypump. Luckily the pump class wasn't super packed, which meant the room didn't get boiling hot.

Off to be productive (or not),

Double workouts

I walked, trammed, walked, and trammed all to get my new favourite tea - Rosehip. So far I've only been able to find it at the South Melbourne Market.

It's sweet and fruity - no sugar needed.

After chasing down the tea, I decided lunch was needed (it was after two so I say needed but really I mean desperately, desperately required). I was in a funk and after 3 laps around the food court I couldn't find one thing I wanted. Don't you hate it when you're past the point of starvin' marvin and nothing is appealing? I opted to hop back on the tram and survey the options on Fitzroy Street. Luckily, I found something delish (an oldie but a goodie).

Hello there, curry. Get in my tummy! I tried (and failed) to dominate this meal, but Veg Out has seriously generous portions (I *may* have opted for all the veggies and left a lot of brown rice). The eggplant was particularly well cooked.

After a bit of digestion, I headed to the gym for bodypump. Then I thought it would be a good idea to also go to boxing. And as I'm typing this my arms feel like noodles. Tomorrow will be an easy day.

The evening ended with a bit of deja vu with some much needed nutrient filled juice (minus the grapes).

The best thing about my new juicer is that it came with lifetime juice making (and cleaning).

Best.husband.ever.

Off to bed,

Being Productive

Today started out with getting my booty kicked in bodypump (okay, it *may* have actually started out with a bit of sleep in then said booty kicking). I'm not in love with bodypump the way some people are, and I wish they would switch the order of things up every now and again. However, I do think it's a great workout, especially for someone (cough, me) who wouldn't lift otherwise. Although I would like to start lifting heavy once a week.

After the gym I decided I needed wanted something sweet. And since it's Australia, there is a bakery on every.single.corner.

Why hello Brumby's - I'll take one of your delicious cinnamon donuts, and please excuse my sweat drenched, unbrushed hair. Said donut was inhaled before a picture could be taken!

I have decided that I need some accountability in my life (don't we all), so instead of having unstructured days I'm using a nifty notebook to organise what I want to accomplish. It has sections for priorities, to do list, treat for the day, dinner, and appointments (bonus is that it also has a section for water consumption, which should help me get in more H2O)

Of course I was supposed to fill it out last night to start today, but it didn't happen. What did happen was watching Safety Not Guaranteed (cute movie). I figure I can fill it in for the second half of today, instead.

After looking at my patio I realised what needs to be put on the list.

Weed pulling is a workout, right? At the very least it's a counter to donut eating.

Off to fight pull weeds,

Pump it Out with Cups of Glory

Last week I managed to make it to Bodypump 3 times, and was very proud of the effort. However, it messed up my routine because I went Sunday so couldn't go Monday. This week I went Wednesday and snoozed through Friday, so today I had the pleasure of dragging a sleepy Aussie out of bed to pump it out. I was definitely glad I made it, but a girl did seem to forget a little something called personal space. Seriously, I felt like I was squating right into her lap.

Pre-pump I whipped up a mud smoothie. Anytime raspberries and greens make smoothie love the result is one ugly but tasty baby. This one has rainbow chard from the Victoria Market, spinach, raspberries, and orange juice.

Post-pump the Aussie took blender duty. He made a healthy pb milkshake

It tastes like heaven :) So in love. Too bad bananas are a treat over here. Today we're heading to the in-laws, which is about 90 mins away. I'll be driving on the highway for the first time over here . . . ahhhh (that's what the Aussie is going to be screaming as I cruise down the road).

See ya tomorrow,

6 am wake-up call

After a fitfull sleep I had an early wake-up call.

Rewind . . . Monday morning we opted to snooze over gyming-it-up, so we did an evening session. I *finally* made it back to a bodypump class, and my muscles have been crying ever since. Bodypump pushes me more than I would push myself, especially with lifting.

Being a good housewife I had dinner ready for us after the gym, if ready could be described as take-out :) muahaha. We tried a new-to-us place called Vegout. Brown rice & pumpkin curry with two forks. I meant to take a picture of the food, but all I got was this . . .

My belly beat the camera. But I will have you know it was finger-licking good.

Back to the this morning, early wake-up call at 5:30am! Finally leave at a few minutes to 6. I wasn't feeling a run today, but that's exactly what I did :) I'm doing the walk/run method at the moment. Mentally it helps me do a better workout. I walked for a 1k, ran for 1.5k (9ish mins), walked for .5k, ran for 1.5k (9ish mins), walked for .5k, ran for 1k (6ish mins). I'm pretty proud of running for 24ish mins. This was only my 3rd run, and the 2 last week I only did 1k of running at a time.

After the gym, I headed to the store where I scooped up still-hot bread (OMG! so tasty) and grapes. Does anyone else turn grapes from this . . .

Into this . . .

Time for me to attempt a wifely duty I have never ever done.

Wish me luck :) or better yet wish Gabe's work shirts luck, because they're the ones that should be scared.
