Spring is in the air

This weekend should have been filled with lots of painting by the Hubs, but instead we did some vegging. Even when you have a ton of things you *should* be doing, sometimes the best thing you can do is simply enjoy the company of someone you love. Plus it meant I wasn't trapped in the guestroom while he painted!

We decided to celebrate some lovely spring weather that we're having with an impromptu BBQ.

I absolutely love fried onion on burgers (ours were a new-to-us veggie burger called Fry's Family).

I died from cuteness while doing baby laundry today.

You can't tell from the picture, but baby clothes are small - really, really small. It's hard to imagine anyone fitting into them. I actually have a fear that are tub-o-baby will have a booty that is too big for the super cute, but ridiculously small, clothes his Aunt picked out for him.

We can also now see both our dining room table and the floor in the back living room since we did a big clean. With all the painting, door removing, and general laziness going on it was starting to get very cluttered. I eventually got to a point where I couldn't handle it.

We (really just the Hubs) put together the bassinet and the changing table, which made the nursery look more like a nursery. We also took the baby's ride for a spin.

I rounded off the weekend with a walk, movie and a nap, and I'm about to make us some roasted veggies for dinner.

All-in-all it was a perfectly relaxing weekend, and at almost 36 weeks pregnant "relaxing" exactly what you need.

Off to start dinner,

Week 35

We're getting *so* close, but we're still so far away. At least that's how this preggo wife feels. We're 35 days away from d-day, but with my luck (and the high statistically likelihood) this baby boy will probably celebrate his due date right where he is. Don't get me wrong, I want him to be fully baked, and it's really for his own good that I hope he doesn't over bake. It has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to sleep on my stomach. **sheepish grin**

The belly is a focal point these days, and I can never seem to remember just how big it is and often have difficulty with doors and sharp corners.

Weight gained:35 pounds (say what?!?!) I swear I'm not eating 24/7.
Workouts:hoping to make my last bodypump class tomorrow. I did buy weights to continue to do something over the next few weeks and for after the baby popping
Labor Signs: none
Symptoms: swollen doesn't even begin to describe it - my wrists, my feet, my ankles, my calves, my knees. My hands are so bad that I'm starting to get carpal tunnel and couldn't even scoop melon the other day!
Movement: plenty. I am trying to capture some of it on camera but he's a sneaky little devil
Food Aversions: nothing really
Food Cravings: none, but I did die a little when I found (okay, the Aussie found) veggie breakfast sausage.
Sleep: not too bad, but it involves lots of flipping, multiple times of waking up to numb fingers, and plenty of bathroom breaks. in other words, soooo relaxing. the hubs loves it (not)
Stretch marks? none yet (shocking considering the size of the beasty belly)
Miss Anything? sleeping on my stomach, a cold cider and having my body back to myself
Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: our living room is finally back in order after the painting.
Belly Button in or out? flat - with a high probability of poppage
Wedding rings on or off? been off for a long time but still very happily married
Happy or moody most of the time: happy, so stinkin' happy
New Baby Items: changing table, bath tub, rubber ducky, carry cot and other random things

What I've been up to

Aside from waddling around, I've been getting up to a random assortment of activities -

Baking (for the MIL's bday) . . .

Enjoy the weather . . .

Rocking out at bodypump . . .

And of course, spending lot of time at work. Today is day 1 of week 32 and I was hit with the tired bug. I hope it was just a one off, but time shall tell. I did manage to (finally) try prenatal yoga, and I realised how absolutely un-flexible I have become. It was completely self-induced because I stopped stretching. Shame on me! I'm hoping to find a bit of flexibility in the next two months.

In other news, I've adopted a new approach to dinner - half the plate is full of steamed veggies. I have been tracking fruits and veggies for a bit, and I wasn't completely satisfied with how many I was eating. This is an easy boast. Tonight I did a combo of broccoli, peas, corn, and string beans. Hello, nutrients! It also makes thinking about dinner a bit easier. Win, win.

Off to catch some zzzs,

B

Food Cravings: none
Sleep: starting to have a few issues - leg cramps and pains when I sit up, but still getting a good amount of sleep
Stretch marks? none yet (fingers crossed)
Miss Anything? sleeping on my stomach!

Off to start reading about the Bradley method,

Babymoon - Lake's Entrance

I'm feeling very relaxed after the babymoon. I really like the idea of taking time to have a nice little vacation with your partner before the baby comes. When deciding where to go I knew I didn't want to fly anywhere (I don't think my poor swollen feet could handle it), which meant we were limited to driving distance. I also couldn't do wineries, skiing, or spas, which are all good trips in the area. I wanted to go somewhere I haven't been before which took Great Ocean Road out of the running. Enter Lake's Entrance.

We left early Friday morning and stopped in Melbourne for breakfast then headed to the Lillico Glass Studio.

We bought a beautiful glass plate, a knick knack for the nursery, and some floating birds for my MIL's garden.

I was really glad we decided on a hotel that offered 1 bedroom apartments.

We stayed in this apartment for a few hours, because when I went to have a shower the showerhead flew off!!! The hotel was quick to move us into another apartment (that was slightly bigger) and gave us some chocolate and beers (and a working shower), so it worked out in the end.

Dinner was delicious ghetto Mexican food - you know the type of place that skimps on aesthetics but delivers on flavour.

The weekend was filled with exploring local national parks and beaches.

After lots of walking and exploring, we enjoyed a delicious meal at Vibez Cafe. I went with the spicy lentil burger and it was really good. Although I did have to deconstruct it to eat it, because it was massive.

Weekend highlights also included heated pools, lush bath bombs, and a pedicure

And a lot of random "selfies" ....

It was the perfect little get-away and I loved spending so much quality time with the Aussie. Too bad someone didn't do the food shopping and cleaning while I was gone.

Off to enjoy the last moments of the weekend,

B

The Work Week

Another work week done and dusted! I'm excited to be heading off to Lake's Entrance for our babymoon (yes, I support any reason to celebrate or take a vacation). This week I spent my time alternating between thoughts that this baby is going to be here before we know it and the fear that I cannot possibly last another 12 weeks with this ever-growing basketball strapped to my stomach (add a few, quite a few, thoughts of wishing for ankles instead of cankles).

This week I also realised that my crafting skills may have peaked in kindergarten. I decided to make a little babymoon game for us - twelve questions to answer about the baby that we can look back on his 1st birthday and realise how wrong we were. Questions include: when will he be born, who will change his first diaper, what will his first word be and how much sleep will we get.

I know, you are incredibly impressed with my over-the-top crafting project. I figure I can only improve from here. Right?

Other highlights this week included my first time at Schnitz (okay, okay it was also my second time .. those wraps are addictive).

And getting to spend time with this handsome husband ...

Off to couch cuddle,

B

We're having a baby!

We found out on 8 February that I was pregnant and we have been over the moon ever since. This was a very much planned for pregnancy, and we've felt so blessed that it all happened so quickly. In a short period of time we - found out I was pregnant, bought a house, and I started a new job.

The pregnancy so far has been really good. I had no complaints at all until 25 weeks - then came the swollen feet. Seriously, when they say your feet can swell they really mean it. My little size 6 feet could easily be mistaken for big foots and my ankles have gone missing. It's an ugly sight, but luckily not painful (although some days it gets to an uncomfortable stage when the fat roll appears where my ankle should be).

We found out at a 16 week scan that we're having a little baby boy.

My babybump is certainly noticeable (I even had a lady ask if I needed help getting off my bench in bodypump - thanks, but I'm happy to roll off ... haha). This is a picture from 26 weeks.

TWENTY-EIGHT WEEKS

Weight gained:18 pounds

Workouts:This week was a good week - 2 bodypumps, 20 minute walk, 50 squats

Labor Signs: None, thankfully

Symptoms: Swollen feet

Movement: Lots of movement and we love tapping back when we moves

Food Aversions: hot chocolate - I had it one morning and then had a bit of morning sickness and since then it's on the off list.

Food Cravings: No, but the baby does seem to love peanut butter, Indian, and grapes

Sleep: Thanks to the snoogle it has been fabulous (praying it stays that way). Although now it is starting to get trickier to get up. I'm probably only a few weeks away from needing the Aussie to push me up ... haha. I *may* already be using him to put on my socks.

Stretch marks? None so far - I have been oiling up the tummy with bio oil and Lush lotion

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my stomach, a cold cider and coke zero

Fun and/or Interesting Things from the Week: I took the gestational diabetes test, so hopefully it comes back okay. I actually didn't mind the lime drink (although I was hoping for an orange one)

Belly Button in or out? My deep belly button is flattening by the day

Wedding rings on or off? I took them off two weeks ago after a scare. My hands swelled up and I couldn't get the rings off for awhile. My ring finger was an angry red colour by the end. After reading horror stories about rings being cut off, I decided to play it safe.

Happy or moody most of the time: So incredibly happy (and nervous)

New Baby Items: None this week - but we have a lot on the "to buy" list

Off to harass the Aussie until he feeds us,

B
